No striker, no problem, says Guardiola after the Saints' standoff.
Manchester City mentor Pep Guardiola said the club's inability to sign another striker in the nearby season was not the explanation they couldn't beat Southampton on Saturday. The city was held to a baffling 0-0 draw at the Etihad Stadium subsequent to marshaling only a single shot on track all match, their most reduced count in a Premier League game since March 2017.
Guardiola's side was vigorously connected in the British media with Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo as they hoped to supplant unequaled top goalscorer Sergio Aguero, who left for Barcelona in front of the new season, yet they were eventually left disappointed in the exchange market. "Today we didn't win not on the grounds that we didn't have a middle forward," Guardiola said.
"That (no striker) isn't the explanation. The explanation is on the grounds that we didn't do our interaction from our back four and Fernandinho. The five people who need to carry the ball to different players were bad today." Guardiola likewise multiplied down on his disavowal of any bad behavior following his remarks that a more prominent number of fans expected to go to the Etihad, an explanation that enraged allies' gatherings.
"I remained silent wrong after the Leipzig match," Guardiola added. " I never griped concerning the number of come or don't come. I express gratitude toward them (fans) for coming. Obviously, they were amazing particularly somewhat late when we push more. It was hard to request that they get directly behind us when we are bad or we have lost."
